The Stanley Ranch Museum & Historical Village is two acres of living history — 17 original and replica buildings, including the very garage where Walt Disney first put pencil to paper in 1923.

The garage where Walt Disney drew his first Hollywood cartoons
Before Mickey Mouse, before the studios, there was a one-car garage. In 1923, a young Walt Disney set up his first animation workshop in his uncle Robert's garage in Los Angeles. Saved from demolition and moved to the Stanley Ranch, that very garage now stands here in Garden Grove — just a few miles from the theme park it made possible.

Living History
Walk with a docent through 150 years of Garden Grove
Our volunteer docents bring the village to life on a two-hour walking tour that goes inside six to seven historic buildings — the 1891 Ware-Stanley House, the Reeder and Blaeholder houses, the old post office, and more. No tickets, no reservations. Just show up at the General Store by 1:15 p.m. on the first or third Sunday of the month.
